DAVID LYNCH: CATCHING THE BIG FISH
Otto M. Urban, Jiří Vyorálek, Anna Kameníková
This walk through the exhibition Up in Flames, which presents the work of highly respected American director David Lynch, will be accompanied by readings from his autobiographical book Catching the Big Fish. The tour will be guided by curator Otto M. Urban, with readings by Jiří Vyorálek and Anna Kameníková.
The book Catching The Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity, translated into Czech by Jana Matějková, was published by Dybbuk.


Otto M. Urban is a curator and art historian. His main professional interest lies in Czech and international art of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. He has lectured on the history of Czech modern art at various academic institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad. From 2012 to 2016 he headed the Department of Theory and History of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. From 2017 he was the curator and later the director of the Collection of Nineteenth-Century Art and Classical Modernism at the National Gallery Prague. He has written a number of books and monographs and curated many group and solo exhibitions. He has been the chief curator of the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art since 2020.
Jiří Vyorálek is a theatre, film, and television actor. He graduated from the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, and following stints at Divadlo v 7 a Půl and the Husa na Provázku Theatre, he spent several years as a freelance actor. During that time, he performed a number of roles at the National Theatre Brno. Since September 2013 he has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Theater na Zábradlí. He can currently be seen in productions of My Struggle: A Man in Love, Mrs. Dalloway, The Seagull, Elvis, and others. Vyorálek also works in radio, he has recorded a number of audiobooks, and he can often be seen on television and in films.
Anna Kameníková studied acting at the Prague Conservatory. She entered the public eye in 2011 when she played the role of an abused girl in Jan Hřebejk’s film Innocence. She was nominated for a Czech Lion and a Czech Film Critics’ Award for her performance. She was subsequently nominated for two more Czech Lion awards – in 2020 when she played the title role in the miniseries Božena and two years later for her performance in the film Grand Prix by director Jan Prušinovský. Since 2023 she has been a member of the ensemble of the Theater Na Zábradlí, and she also performs at Činoherní Klub, Divadlo Letí, and Vzlet. In addition to film and theatre, she also works in radio. She narrated, among other things, the audiobook for Anna Cima’s novel I Wake Up in Shibuya (Probudím se na Šibuji, 2018), for which she received the award for Best Female Performer in the Czech Audiobook of the Year Awards.
