
Filip Noubel

Filip Noubel is a Czech-French editor, journalist and translator. In 2019, he joined Global Voices media platform as editor-in-chief. He grew up in Ireland, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Greece. He studied Slavonic and East Asian languages in Tokyo, Prague, Paris and Beijing. He has worked as a media expert and analyst for international organizations including Internews, the International Crisis Group and IWPR in China, Taiwan, Nepal, Central Asia, the south Caucasus and Eastern Europe. He focuses mostly on issues of identity, freedom of expression and relations between Sinophone and Francophone regions. He also works in the field of literature and literary translations from Czech, Russian and Chinese. He has collaborated with a number of literary magazines and festivals in China, Mongolia, the Czech Republic and Uzbekistan, most recently mainly with the French magazine Jentayu and the English-language magazine Asymptote Journal. He lives in Prague and Taiwan.
