Writer Vratislav Maňák and poets Adam Borzič and Sufian Massalema will present three possible perspectives on the challenges of contemporary masculinity. The series of three readings will take place within the space of the thematically related exhibition ANDROS, which explores the depiction of the male body in contemporary central European art.

Adam Borzič is a Czech poet, essayist, and psychotherapist. He has long explored the connections between literature, spirituality, and humanistic psychology. He has published a number of poetry collections, including Počasí v Evropě (The Weather in Europe, 2013), Orfické linie (Orphic Lines, 2015), Západo-východní zrcadla (West-East Mirrors, 2018), Legendy (Legends, 2021), and Paví logiku (Peacock Logic, 2025). Together with Ondřej Slačálek and Olga Pavlova he co-wrote the book Proroci postutopického radikalismu: Alexandr Dugin a Hakim Bey (Prophets of Post-Utopian Radicalism: Alexander Dugin and Hakim Bey, 2018), in which they situate the thought of these contrasting authors within historical, political, spiritual, and literary contexts. His latest book, Spiritualita posvátné Země: Divoká cesta spolubytí (Spirituality of the Sacred Earth: The Wild Path of Coexistence, 2026), explores the themes of green spirituality, interconnectedness, and the sacredness of life on Earth. From 2013 to 2023 he was the editor-in-chief of the literary biweekly Tvar.

Sufian Massalema is a Czech poet, slammer, and performer with Syrian roots. He was born in Jablonec nad Nisou. In his work he combines his experience of growing up in the Czech borderlands with themes of identity, faith, and the search for home. His poems span the Jizera Mountains, Prague, and the Middle East, exploring how the identity of a person growing up amid different cultures is shaped. His writing has been awarded by the Vladimír Vokolek Literary Prize and the Hořovice of Václav Hrabě Literary Competition. His debut collection, Možnosti přehlíženého (The Possibilities of the Overlooked, 2024), was nominated for the Jiří Orten Award.

Vratislav Maňák is a Czech writer, journalist, and literary historian. He teaches at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague. He made his literary debut with the collection of short stories Šaty z igelitu (Plastic Dress, 2011), for which he won the Jiří Orten Award. His novel Rubikova kostka (Rubik’s Cube, 2016) was nominated for the European Union Prize for Literature. In his subsequent books, Smrt staré Maši (The Death of Old Masha, 2022) and Goethe v Mariánských Lázních (Goethe in Marienbad, 2024), he explored themes of intimacy, memory, and the conditions of existence in central Europe. His books are also regularly published in German. In his latest book, S Wittgensteinem v gay sauně (With Wittgenstein in a Gay Sauna, 2026), he combines reportage with a personal perspective and reflections on homosexuality, corporeality, and the queer experience. This autumn Maňák is also curating an exhibition at DOX titled Andros, which explores the theme of the male body in contemporary central European art.
