Magdaléna Platzová is a Czech writer, journalist, and translator. Among her best-known novels are Aaron’s Leap (2006), The Attempt (2016), and most recently Life After Kafka (2024), about the fate of Felice Bauer, who took all of her former fiancé Franz Kafka’s letters with her when she emigrated to America. Platzová often writes about themes of identity, memory, and history, and her books have been translated into many languages. She lives between the Czech Republic and France.
