
Colum McCann
Irish author and one of the founders of Narrative 4
Colum McCann is an Irish prose author living in New York who has written eight novels and three collections of short stories. His most famous novel to date, Apeirogon (2020), is the true story of Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan, a Palestinian and an Israeli who were brought together by the loss of their daughters during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The book has been praised for its deeply human perspective on violence, pain, and reconciliation. McCann has won numerous literary prizes, including the American National Book Award and the Dublin Literary Award, and his books have been published in more than forty languages. He is the president and one of the founders of Narrative 4, a non-profit organisation dedicated to developing empathy through the sharing of personal stories, which is active in the Czech Republic in collaboration with the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art.
